About Steven LeMay

Design and Usability

Esthetically, I have an opinionated bias for simplicity and elegance in all areas of design. As a user interface designer, I have a passion for creating elegant, usable software and I am fierce advocate of the user's perspective in the software development lifecycle .

Most recently, I have been employed as a senior designer and usability specialist by such industry leading companies as CIBC, Fidelity Investments Canada and CGI Inc. I bring with me extensive experience in

  • design of both web based and traditional GUI user interfaces
  • usability testing of both live applications and paper prototypes
  • creation of wireframes, process flows, design standards and style guidelines

Greyhounds

Lounging with Albert and RubyMuch leisure time these days centres around our retired racing greyhounds. If you haven't heard, these graceful gentle demeanoured animals make truly wonderful pets.

The National Ballet of Canada

Prior to my career in UI design, I spent seven years in a production planning and support role with the National Ballet of Canada. I have long been a fan of the performing arts but this stint at the ballet gave me a lasting affinity for dance. There is, I find, something gut level and visceral about dance as a medium, especially the contemporary works of choreographers such as Ballet BC's John Alleyne, William Forsythe and Jiri Kylian.
